January 16, 2010 Flight around Bear Butte

near Sturgis, South Dakota

Saturday I was in Rapid City and called my new trike friend Darrel. The temperature was about 55 degrees so Darrel suggested we go flying. I didn’t have any Winter open air flying gear with me but Darrel said he had everything I needed. We met at the Sturgis airport around 2 pm and flew for about an hour. We flew around Bear Butte, staying a minimum of 2000 feet from it since it is a National Historic Landmark. What a beautiful site and experience. I regret not having my camera with me, but I won’t forget in the future. Darrel is a great Sport Pilot that flies a white Airborne 912XT aircraft. I look forward to flying with him again soon. Thanks Darrel.
